I was recently looking for a logo for XSpec and didn't find one so I created something simple (it was for an internal repository of XSpec related tools).

If you'd like to use it in this project (or wider) you'd be welcome to. No offence taken if you prefer not too :)

I took that and tweaked it a bit.

I like the in/out-of-focus twist in Stephen's versions.

@martian-a and @spemberton : Thanks for thinking of this and offering your artwork for use in this project. :)

I like all three, but my favorite is Stephen's first one. @AirQuick , @cirulls : What do you think?

By the way, when I recently started writing about XSpec on medium.com and wanted both a series name and a logo, I used the same idea of an "X" seen through a lens of a pair of eyeglasses.

(I am not proposing that my spectacle photograph be a candidate for an official XSpec logo; only mentioning because I found the similarity amusing.)

I inserted the last image into the draft release note of v2.3. Now it starts like this:

XSpec logo proposed and discussed in #1766

Summary

Release v2.3 fixes bugs, updates dependencies, and includes some refactoring.

Common to Languages Under Test

  • Saxon 9.8 is no longer supported, while Saxon 9.9 is deprecated.

Hi, @martian-a and @spemberton .

Is it OK with you if a graphics file for the logo becomes part of the XSpec repository under either the MIT license or a Creative Commons license? Part of my reason for asking is that I would like to include the logo on a book cover. I don't mind making a pull request for this if there is agreement on the way forward.

Unless there is more discussion about which image should be "the" XSpec logo, I'll assume we are talking about the one that @AirQuick used in the last release notes or perhaps the same visual design in a different format.

By any chance, do you have the image in SVG format?

Thanks!

Thank you for your replies, Steven! I'm not seeing the attachment either on the GitHub page or in my email, though. If it would be easier for you to send me the SVG file by email, let me know and I'll send you an email that you can reply to. As another alternative, if you'd rather have someone else make the SVG file following your design, let me know.
