- monophony, ornamentation of melodies, heterophony in ensembles
- scales that have "quartertones" (which intonation isn't strictly derived from 24-tone equal temperament)
- rhythmic and non-rhythmic forms, rhythmic forms having uneven rhythms like 7/4, 9/8, 10/8 etc.
- transposition (modulation) of a scale up/down a semitone/a tone within a single piece is never used
