Why not just use https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/datalist? better native support in mobiles... IE is also dead anyway

IE is also dead anyway

only recently, when this library was first written it was not dead. But now I'd support dropping IE if it makes things easier.
