Do you have an X server installed? |

I thought this might be the issue so installed xorg-server, but this
fix it. However, if xorg-server is required you should make it a
dependency.
Funnily I can start the desk from within a running Sway session. It's
messy but it starts.

quick thought, I noticed it pulled networkmanager as a dependency, does thedesk require NM to be enabled and running? |
I think I've handled the case where NM isn't working this time around. If theDesk crashes upon startup, let me know and I'll look into it. |

Hmm, are you able to view console output? Looks like Qt is trying to output a message to the console which might be helpful. |
well, nothing else besides the messages in my original post.

I'm having troubles to ge thedesk running on Arch with the packages from the repo. This is the output I'm getting:
tSettings: Writing settings to "/home/frank/.config/Unknown Organization.conf"
qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Available platform plugins are: wayland-org.kde.kwin.qpa, eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb.
