_gdk_frame_clock_freeze assertion fails on wgpu example

Describe the bug
When running the wgpu example the window renders incorrectly (attached screenshot) and the console prints

(wgpu:80464): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 15:35:34.013: _gdk_frame_clock_freeze: assertion 'GDK_IS_FRAME_CLOCK (clock)' failed

cargo r --example wgpu

Expected behavior
Window renders showing the demo ui
