when WP Offload Media is enabled, any image that I upload and try to use as Avatar doesn't have the URL correctly converted, appearing as "http://localhost/s3sfo2://imageurl/"

As far as I could check, your plugin only checks for local images or Gravatars, not CDN URLs

I would guess the issue is that get_user_meta is not, by default, filtered by WP Offload Media.
