Become a sponsor to Afterschool

Afterschool is a game development studio dedicated to creating games with expressive systems.

In addition to high-quality games, Afterschool has a commitment to building tools and resources around game development to help out other developers and teams that may not otherwise have access to similar tooling or workflows.

Our flagship tool right now is Depot, a structured data editor for games and other software that allows you to author JSON data like a spreadsheet. We're also working on a new C# game engine called Dinghy that we hope to release in alpha sometime next year.

Sponsoring us right now will help us better improve Depot and continue work on Dinghy, as well as to continue to provide high quality documentation and sustained support for these efforts. Additionally, we try to produce blogs and tutorials to help other people learn how to make games better, and would love to make these efforts all more sustainable.

Our immediate roadmap for Depot, with the help of sponsors, would be to:

  1. Provide a standalone editor outside of VS Code
  2. Provide a web based editor
  3. Provide easy plugin integrations that automatically parse the data (C# + Javascript)
  4. Move codebase to Typescript
  5. Look to support JSON Schema

We're just starting out! We'd love to see if Github's sponsorship program is a sustainable way to help us continue to build high-quality tools for game developers.
