Depending on how much the SAA changes, we might want to adjust the parameters we are using to filter out counts near the SAA. We currently use one rectangular box to mark counts as near the SAA. And it looks like we might be missing a small region around lon>0 & long<30. If there have been significant changes in the SAA over the last 10 years, we should update these parameters to be more accurate over time.

The SAA drifts "between 0.3° and 0.5° per year". So we might only have a difference of 5° since monitoring began. It might be worth it to just have one larger rectangle instead of making it time-dependent. Something to think about
