It seems like this app has a lot of "baby is trying to walk" issues.

Battery is one huge aspect. I have seen issues & comments here & there, but no explicit issue, summarising the whole battery problem, which is currently really huge in this app.

On my Pixel7 running the latest build of GrapheneOS, simplex is using 19℅ of my battery with a silent notification in the background. No other apps using the same notification technique use anything near this amount of battery. The kicker is I don't even really use the app.

I'm uninstalling until a fix is applied.

@xmready have you tried the periodically setting in notification service?

I'm also running an up-to-date GrapheneOS with mentioned setting and SimpleX has 1% in the battery usage overview.

I was using all default settings. I think out of the box settings should be sane and battery efficient without tinkering. Since uninstalling, my battery life is incredibility better.

Yeah , but it can take 20 minutes to see a message this way. I can't switch my family to it like that

Switched on always notfiy, 20% battery drain without a single notification (GrapheneOS Pixel 7)
What strikes me is that other apps that have a dedicated (non FCM) notification system don't have this drain. Conversations and Nextpush stay <1%

It looks like that huge battery drain is only existent in combination with GrapheneOS, any devs using GOS?

Even Signal with websocket shows 4% for me even though it pings server every minute iirc. So definitely Simplex needs a huge improvement to be usable.

@theAkito you don't think so?

Was too lazy to explain at the time, so I just left that mark to signal, that this shouldn't be related to GrapheneOS, or at least not exclusively to it.

For example, I never used GrapheneOS yet and, as far as I remember, when looking through issues, there are plenty of users using "normal" Android operating systems and they experience the same issue.

I have it on my GOS phone as well, but my wife's Samsung has the same issue with One UI. Her old iphone doesn't. Seems to be Android
