You can pretty much W-Only the SW style now and just spin around for over 9000 jumps while holding WA or WD in HSW. Could use a setting to limit that, where a player is simply frozen if no strafes are done for X amount of jumps.

not a good approach, theres probably few maps where you need to spin/climb strafing one way or something

Hence the limit of jumps and/or strafe requirement.
The approach worked perfectly since 2012 or so.

In the original bTimes blacky did this by checking the ratio of W to S strafes to prevent people playing W-Only on Sideways, I think that's a better way to solve this. I don't think it's necessary on HSW.

It is necessary on HSW, because spining with W+A/D will benefit you with extra velocity rather than being forced to actually strafe.
