@hssainidev Can you put some time and try to close some issues by answering them and mentioning me, i will close those tickets. In this way you can help community and meanwhile when you are comfortable to start development, look here as well these are the tickets i'm looking to close in upcoming build.

@raahul1912 I suggest you the same. If you already know about Settings Sync in details you can look here as well these are the tickets i'm looking to close in upcoming build or fix any bug and send PR. Else you can also go ahead and assist me in closing opened tickets to get yourself more familiar with Settings Sync before working on the features.

In case if you both want to send PR. This is the upcoming build branch v3.4.4

Let me know how can I assist you guys more to become more productive with Settings Sync development.

Have you heard about your new competitor?

There is one important differentiation with this extension; it allows multiple profiles. This is a critical feature for me. The vscode settings sync have been asked to provide this, but the responses to date have been non-commital.

See: microsoft/vscode#92393

As this Settings Sync provide storage for GitHub Gist, unlike VSCode Settings Sync that provides with MS Backend.
We can create this Settings Sync generic to allow anyone to add storage provide to work and connect with.
Like Git , File Storage , Dropbox etc

Chiming in to say I prefer this extensions storage method. I have no desire to create a Microsoft account to store settings. Also, I can easily create multiple gists to support different environments.

Your work is appreciated.

First, I think this extension is fantastic! Thank you @shanalikhan for creating and maintaining it for so long.

@jsumners, you can use your GitHub account to sync with the vscode sync.

I would like to strongly support continuation of this extension. The inbuilt settings sync functionality of VSCode does not exist for OSS builds; in fact, upon questioning the VSCode team they have mentioned that there is no plan to support Settings Sync for OSS builds. Given the large amount of Linux (and otherwise) distros that use the OSS build, having this extension alive and healthy is a must.

I just was able to enable inbuilt settings sync in a Raspberry Pi OS.

Oh maybe, I missunderstood, when you say an OSS build it means build VS Code locally?

Well, I mean built from https://github.com/microsoft/vscode (either locally, or binary provided from the distribution but built from the github repo). Not a binary provided by microsoft.

Microsoft should have hired Shan and used this extension as a base for their own sync logic, that's my two cents.

"new competitor" is not competitor at all. The key difference is that current plugin allow you to save settings in gist, while "competitor" doing it in it's own storage.

Hi,
I'm sad to see that this great project couldn't attract a new maintainer.
It will be revered.
