Strange framing

Running:

for i in abc cde ; do echo -n $i ; date ; done 

inside a bash session with default settings (not framing if less that 10 lines) should appear as 2 lines, but the output like 6 different commands with 5 framed: the first one empty, then 2 commands from the output of "echo -n" and "date", another one empty , the next one out the ouput of "echo -n" and the last output without a frame.
