Custom webpack config/overrides?

looking through the source code it seems there is not a way to do this, which is a make-or-break for me. I see a commented out cli option, and a /src/webpack/config.js file that is not used. Am I missing something? Have you looked into this and estimated level of effort? I would be willing to try to add it and do a PR. Perhaps something like webpack-merge could come in handy
