I heard a talk yesterday probably it was old. But I see the last commit is 2 years old. Is three package dropped or you switched to another project. Please let me know.

It is on indefinite hiatus, yes. The time I spend on spreadsheet stuff is dedicated to readxl and googlesheets(4) for the foreseeable future. But I still think this is a good idea and package!

It actually is because most of the data that I get have very small tables spread across entire sheet. With colors and comments.

If this package works I may not need to go to excel at all. And it's helpful when I have many workbooks which have many sheets and all of those have different small tables.

You were absolutely right. Most of the data and analysis happen in excel and in the most untidy manner possible. Meta data can actually be helpful.

It's a great idea if you ever implement it.

^^ still holds. And yet, as I work on spreadsheet projects, I continue to gradually move more in this direction. Yeah, it's probably imperceptible from the outside -- it's still more important to make finished things for the average user! But I am trying to make the "raw" data more accessible along the way. googlesheets4, for example, will make "raw cells" available for someone who wants or needs access to low-level data.
