The reason for the change is the incomplete dependency package robotframework-sapguilibrary which enforces wheel build during environment creation.

The beforementioned package is also really old, release 1.1 is from January 2019.

Options

  1. new rpaframework-sap package (separated from main). This option does not remove the headache of building a wheel file
  2. fork the package as rpaframework-sap package (still including sap package in the main). No need to build wheel file "on the fly" anymore.
  3. fork the package as robocorp-sap package and remove robotframework as a dependency (only screenshot and logger are in use)
