When scrolling a document with a lot of empty space, I tend to go a page past a piece of content, since I would scroll past a page (and ignore the "Loading..." text since the document has a lot of blank space). A quick thumbnail would let me know if a page has content (so I can wait for it to load) or nothing (so I know to scroll past).
