As of this PR, all images are preceeded with {{site.baseurl}}/. However, I'm hosting my images on a cdn, so when I put in the full URL, I get ![]({{site.baseurl}}/http://my-image.com).

Personally I think that having liquid tags inside a markdown tag is confusing for my client, and it's a pretty big assumption that all images are being hosted on site. I suggest you revert this change and find a better solution. Perhaps a config option to enable or disable this feature?

@mushishi78 Confirmed. That's a super-odd behaviour.

@dereklieu Can you assign this to me?

[Note to self: there are a bunch of related issues already in the queue.]

+1 for being able to get rid of the prepended {{site.baseurl}} somehow. This is breaking things for me since I'm using prose.io with Hugo, which doesn't preprocess liquid tags in markdown content.

I know this is an old issue, but being able to remove the {{site.baseurl}} somehow would be a huge win for Hugo sites. Ideally, it'd be great to set two paths.

  1. The media path in the GitHub repo
  2. The media path in the actual deployed site

E.g. sometimes an image is uploaded to /static/uploads/my-image.png but when the site is built and deployed, the site sets the URL as /uploads/my-image.png
