There's no existing/similar bug report.

  • I have searched the existing issues

This report is about a single actionable bug.

  • I'm reporting a single actionable bug

This report is about the ProGit book, version 2, English language.

  • This bug is not about a translation or old version

Bug covers book website/pdf

  • I confirm the bug is about the book as found on the website/pdf

Problem is present in the Pro Git book on the website?

  • This bug also affects the Pro Git book as published on the website.

Which version of the book is affected?

I don't know

Describe the bug:

The pdf cover-page is not cropped correctly, causing blank vertical image-borders in e-readers and file-GUIs.

The ProGit book, as advertised, does not have these borders which is a discrepancy.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to this page
  2. Click on the adobe-acrobat image, to download the pdf
  3. View cover-page in a GUI (i.e. Apple Books, Finder, etc)
  4. See error

Expected behavior:

A pdf cover-page that is a one-to-one, when compared to the actual book cover.
Or in other words, a cover-page without the blank vertical image-borders.

Additional context:

User's can manually swap out the cover-page to fix this issue. This is done by deleting the first-page and inserting the new image at the first-page.
