General overview of your idea.

The "Installing on Windows" chapter contains text which implies that the standard windows installation is not automated, and the Chocolatey package is the more automated installation. This is misleading to new users, who should be downloading the standard windows installation if they want Git to automatically install.

I infer that the phrase "automated installation" has a technical meaning that makes this text accurate, but as the installation page is the first page any new Git user will visit, this knowledge should not be assumed. Clicking the Chocolatey link leads to a complex installation process for Chocolatey itself. For a new windows user, installing via Chocolatey is significantly less automated, in the traditional sense of the word, than the standard windows package.

A simple solution would be to use a more precise phrase to describe "automated installation" and put it in quotes, i.e.:

To get an "automated installation [script?]" you can use the Git Chocolatey package. Note that the Chocolatey package is community maintained.

alternatively, it could be clearly indicated that the bottom text is for users already familiar with Chocolatey:

To install Git via Chocolatey, you can use the Git Chocolatey package. Note that the Chocolatey package is community maintained.

What problem will this solve?

Ambiguity in the ProGit installation instructions.

Have you thought about other solutions?

Another solution would be to indicate that the standard windows installation is the "the simplest way to get started with Git," or use other language to make clear to new users where to get started. There are many ways that the text could be altered to guide new users to the standard installation and away from Chocolatey.
