Is the argon skin's taiko (kiai?) katsu hit pulse overlap intentional?

When a big katsu or two overlapping katsu get hit, katsu pulsing glow obviously pulses, but is the overlap of both katsu glowing sides intentional? Like so in this recording (follow the cursor):

If in future skins can be based on real argon skin, will skinners have to account for this and have to make 1px column of a side of a katsu pulsing glow image empty like so?
