Give possibility to upload own avatar on user page (not use Gravatar), it should be very easy to put together as most of the code is already there for uploading pins.

I'd like keeping Gravatar as a default though (maybe activated by a configuration option?). =)

Don't panic, It should and will work like your way.
We will always keep the Gravatar as default avatar source before custom avatar uploaded.
