would appreciate some help with debugging an 8bitdo ultimate controller on a manjaro system.

jstest /dev/input/js0
Driver version is 2.1.0. Joystick (Nintendo Switch Pro Controller) has 6 axes (X, Y, Rx, Ry, Hat0X, Hat0Y) and 14 buttons (BtnA, BtnB, BtnX, BtnY, BtnZ, BtnTL, BtnTR, BtnTL2, BtnTR2, BtnSelect, BtnStart, BtnMode, BtnThumbL, BtnThumbR). Testing ... (interrupt to exit)
dmesg --level=debug --follow
doesn't output anything when I press a controller button, but it is visible..

I installed via 8bitdo-ultimate-controller-udev AUR package first which built fine, then I tried xpad-dkms-git with the same result as above.

what can I do to debug further
