@rabernat mentioned in #93 (comment), that some of the tests could be simplified.

I just wanted to open a new issue to keep track of this:

I suspect we could refactor the tests to only use one of these example dataset, making them easier to read and maintain
We might want to drop the 'options' from here and here or refactor them into a fixture?
