Can I turn off executing describe statements? At least only in development e.g.? The whole boot process is over 3 minutes and it's just impossible to maintain the project.

What do you mean with "all of the describes"? Like describe blocks from a test framework like RSpec or Minitest? If so, it sounds like someone configured your project to run all specs during bootup - but this is definitely not standard and not an issue with the padrino framework.
