On Owncast v0.1.2, the chat textbox is cleared every time the window is resized below a certain size (when it hides away the chat behind a button).

My assumption would have been that the chat textbox keeps its contents even when the chat popup is closed and reopened.

My guess is because the chat is completely rebuilt when it switches to mobile mode, it's going to lose all that state.

This will be a very rare edge case that somebody is switching from a desktop view to a mobile view, and it's even rarer that they'd be in the middle of typing something when they do it. So while I agree this may not be the optimal functionality, it's not something I feel needs to be worked on in the short term, either.

However, like always, if this is bothering somebody, and they want to work on it, they are absolutely welcome to!

It is extremely common for someone using tiling window manager and switching the browser window between fullscreen and tiled (for instance, to research more information in another window)
