Hi. I've noticed some games, astrob in particular, perform very poorly on my singleboards. I realize the MAME intent is to accurately emulate the hardware, and vertical scaling is the proposed solution, but I was curious how hard it would be to...
1/ Make use of netlist solver optional, using samples instead
2/ Optimize how the solver works on multi-core, multi-cpus because...
a/ it appears the the niceness or core affinity make no difference on linux builds; I suspect the solver is running on the same thread as the event loop and the 2 other threads for audio driver aren't where solver executes (i.e. taskset seems to only have 3 threads on launch, main, disk, and audio hot plug with SDLAudio spun after so need software affinity for that - which makes no different to performance)
It seems really odd to me that on a 2 cpu, 6 core device running at 2.4 and 2 ghz sound stutters.
