This will be the Epic and Project Management Code for any changes to OFN connected to / to be billed to Canada's Food Justice Directory project

Description

Using modified versions of the SiB Directory Web components deployed for 'Discover Regenerative', Canada is creating a ‘Digital Food Commons’ for stakeholders in the city of Waterloo (S. Ontario)

The project is designed to showcase community food initiatives across the city, and call on residents to support regional food sovereignty by following one or more of the following three CTAs:

  • Eat local
  • Volunteer local
  • Donate local

The directory will feature local producers, local food hubs / farmers’ markets, community gardens, food banks, community food centres, shared kitchen spaces, etc - and will be filterable via the above three CTA categories. The site needs to be launched in September 2024.

Tech Stack

  • Wordpress directory site [Canada to setup and host]
  • Embed SiB Discovery Components [Aus components embedded to start with so that we can see how it looks]
  • Aiming for direct OFN -> N8N -> WP, no Airtable/miniextensions required
  • SiB component modifications required:
    • Fork SiB Component and remove Supporting Evidence and Certifications
    • Replace above with 1. 'Eat local'; 2. 'Volunteer local'; 3. 'Donate local' filters

Project Documents

Acceptance Criteria

  • All the profiles featured on the ‘Digital Food Commons’ need to be filterable by the three CTA categories: 1. Eat local; 2. Volunteer local; 3. Donate local (NB: community food enterprises will sometimes fall into one or more of these three categories)
  • The ‘Digital Food Commons’ site needs to ensure that all enterprises can include hyperlinks in their directory profiles, so that users can link directly to e-commerce stores (OFN or external), GoFundMe pages, and/or online volunteer signup forms

@kirstenalarsen @David-OFN-CA we don't have epic anymore, we are using milestones for this. You could list the sub-issues within this issue, but in case of a big project like this I wouldn't recommend it.

Given the acceptance criteria however, it looks to me this belongs more to the https://github.com/openfoodfoundation/sib-discovery-components repository?

There is no code in the repository but there are issues here https://github.com/openfoodfoundation/sib-discovery-components/issues

@RachL the reason I put this here is because there will likely be some ofn issues, so provides context for those e.g. @David-OFN-CA is going to put a note about the first issue done in the post above. Agree that we will need same issue in sib-discovery-components
