Have an ongoing tournament with all dashboard buttons enabled. Punch "NEW" and then immediately cancel. "ARENA" stays disabled.

I can't reproduce it. Did you mean cancel by pressing ESC? I tried even simultaneously...
Instead I discovered you can ESC when you press Arena and return to mechlab
