Feedback Tournament mode - openomf_0.6.6 #470

Played through Tournament Mode all 4 tournaments once each. All over worked very well, menus felt very good/natural, at times couldn't tell the difference from the original.

Here's a bunch of issues I wrote up while playing:

News screen

  • pictures lacking sometimes.
  • crystal and crystal, seems random pilots.

Plug

  • Is awesome
  • lacks all comments, text, numbers, gain/loss etc

Mechlab

  • Tournament selector, when pressing left or right, should auto swap page, instead of moving finger to the arrow.
  • Parts buy/sell menu should stop bot from spinning.
  • Spinning a little too fast?
  • Buy instantly buys without the "do you want to buy this" confirm
  • Buy prices lacking
  • Jaguar has the max upgrades of Nova (888877)
  • Upgrades doesn't work yet (as you know, and I like it)
  • Simulation, lacking, and thus doesn't let us watch opponents/bots/stats/upgrades etc

Tournament

  • Feels very random, anything from 3000 to 40000 (Using wrong tournament entry, Money instead of Winnings)
  • Difficulty, does it work? (picked Heavy Metal, got 140 point standard for scrap, which doesn't match any existing difficulty)
  • North Am didn't play ending
  • Katushai/War/World plays but bugged colours, no lighting/sound.
  • Ariel WC wrong colours.
  • Sometimes gets weird bots/colours (Cossette with thorn and Christian colours on re match)

Combat

  • Stunned opponents sometimes remain standing, stunned, instead of falling down and raising stunned. Since enemies doesn't knockdown when stunned, they can get hit and recover instantly from stun.
  • moves swap sides mid animation
  • pushback seems random and often pull the bot back and forth as if deciding
  • Moves doesn't buffer, making special attacks harder to execute.
  • Throws sometimes throw the wrong way
  • Shadow clones seems really glitchy, can't hit them, and don't cancel when hit them/shadow
  • Can keep combo enemy after they're "dead", until combo ends.
  • Got chronos frozen in middle of OHT and still threw the chronos, frozen in air.
  • You can duck under shredder hands, and a few others
  • Jaguar teleport scrap
  • Jag destruction not centred.

Crash

  • change key bind, not responding
  • random swapping from news to repair screen, just disappear.

Regarding the Controls Buffer, as we discussed on Discord.

The original lets you buffer so that you can hold the attack button at the end of the previous animation to have it trigger. Example jaguar 4K into 36P with holding 6+P at the end of the animation, will go into jag leap.

OpenOMF as per my bitching on discord, was that you have to press the 6+P right after the animation end.

Very minor detail, but all for the sake of authentic feeling! ;)
