@ionelmc has a Python implementation of the install script: https://github.com/ionelmc/python-lazy-object-proxy/blob/master/ci/appveyor-bootstrap.py

Great solution, and I expect it will bring more developers to maintain & improve this demo project.

This demo project could be a repository for both implementations, and the main documentation describe the Python script as soon as it is as good or better than the Powershell script.

If @ionelmc doesnt want to do it, and doesnt object, I am willing to implement his solution into this demo project with him as the author to ensure proper attribution.

Then we can all improve it as necessary.

e.g. it doesnt yet support any Python point release (as I would need for https://github.com/wikimedia/pywikibot-core/blob/master/.appveyor.yml)

+1 for hosting the 2 versions. I think the powershell script is still useful for people starting on a vanilla windows machine from scratch (without Python installed, which used to be the case for appveyor when I started this demo project).
