This tool stopped working after my latest Win10 update. This is written in the log file:
Error:Serial port connect failed, please check it.

Full log:
Note:Detect serial port changed.
Note:Auto MAP serial port.Port-->COM4

Error:Serial port connect failed, please check it.

Go to Win10 device manager and check if the COM port has been assigned to your NodeMCU device and has no issues( the device should be plugged to USB). I had similar issue with Win10 Fall's update, these idiots from Microsoft have wiped out my COM port driver for NodeMCU clone. I had to reinstall it by myself whilst Win10 was crying in pain that my driver is not properly signed and that's why it is not compatible with Win10. Overdrawn by developer's mode, so MS can Kiss My A**.
Works like a charm after that.
Also, check if you are using data cable instead of charging cable. My friend had issues using "charging cable" from Amazon. Such cables have no data lines, so obviously your Windows will not recognize any device connected using such cables. Good luck.
