Eventlisteners are activated only if the QApplication is in focus?

I am new to Qt and Nodejs for the most part.

The relevant code snippet is:

const clipboard = QApplication.clipboard();
clipboard.addEventListener('dataChanged', () => {
  var text = clipboard.text(QClipboardMode.Clipboard);
  console.log(text);
});

However I see that the 'dataChanged' event is emitted only after I click on the main window of the application,
Even though the event happened on another window, while the application was not in focus.

Is there any setting I am missing for QApplication or QClipboard?

Thank you! According to the below excerpt, macOS (which I am using), this operation should work:

Notes for Universal Windows Platform Users
The Universal Windows Platform only allows to query the clipboard in case the application is active and an application window has focus. Accessing the clipboard data when in background will fail due to access denial.

It is a dead-end : QClipboard-dataChanged

On macOS and with Qt version 4.3 or higher, clipboard changes made by other applications will only be detected when the application is activated.
