Some alternatives I'm aware of:

https://github.com/accounts-js/accounts which is actively being worked on
https://github.com/ianstormtaylor/permit but it seems to be abandoned as well

Also, if you are interested in the session management part: brillout/wildcard-api#59. (I'm the author.)
