Instead of installing latest, is there currently a way to install a specific msys2 version? If not, would that be complicated to add? If we always have the latest I think it's hard to get reproducible results when the underlying environment is always shifting.

Well specifically I had mingw in mind. At least the choco package seems to have different versions containing different versions of the mingw libraries.

If you use the sync DBs that each installer comes with and you don't sync you indeed get the state of the packages at the time the installer was build. And since we keep all packages for at least 1 year on the server, this continues to work for one year after the installer was released.

We could generalize this to something like https://archive.archlinux.org/ where you can go back in time for up to one year, in theory. No promises..
