  • Linux: SSH Server/Client Ubuntu20.04 LTS on Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB / Ubuntu20.04 LTS
  • ROS 2: Foxy

VS Code ROS Extension Version: v0.9.2

VS Code Version:
Version: 1.81.1
Commit: 6c3e3dba23e8fadc360aed75ce363ba185c49794
Date: 2023-08-09T22:18:39.991Z
Electron: 22.3.18
ElectronBuildId: 22689846
Chromium: 108.0.5359.215
Node.js: 16.17.1
V8: 10.8.168.25-electron.0
OS: Linux x64 5.15.0-79-generic snap

what is the bug

URDF not rendered as with SSH Client/Server

Repro steps

  1. VSCode Running
  2. Startup a SSH Connection to Server with ROS2 Foxy WS
  3. Enable VS Code ROS Extension (detects ROS2 Foxy)
  4. Open URDF (basic.urdf)
  5. CTRL-P, ROS: Preview URDF

I tested on basic.urdf @ooeygui 's test data mentioned in #961

expected behavior

Window opens up with URDF Render

additional context

Same URDF renders fine locally, with same steps but without SSH. I am unsure if this even SUPPOSED to work remotely.

It's supposed to work. I'll take a look. Can you try with the pre-release extension in the container?
