Variables inside of href

I've been doing a bit of research and can't seem to solve my issue with any proposed solutions.

I'm simply including a variable in the href property and the result is that it's prepending a base-url. Here is the code:

All of the commented out code are various attempts to get the url to render correctly, but in the received email the link always seems to have a base URL. When hovering over the link with href, I can see the URL is incorrect:

Whereas the correct URL is also being printed in the same email:

So I feel confident that URL string I'm passing is correct, but seem the href property tries to do something that I don't want

NVM this was a mistake on my part using path.join
