Mautic Version

Way of installing

Other (please specify if relevant in the bug report)

PHP version

NA

What browsers are you seeing the problem on?

Not relevant

What happened?

We are seeing quite a few errors when building with DDEV which it seems is related to it being out of date.

From @rfay on DDEV Discord:

You're using an old version of DDEV, please upgrade. Your problem is ddev/ddev#5795

But please update some other things as well. You're using the old 'drud' org, please use the 'ddev' org. Installation on gitpod at https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/users/install/ddev-installation/#__tabbed_1_4

So we need to update our DDEV config etc to bring everything up to date!

How can we reproduce this issue?

Step 1: Try installing with DDEV as-is and you'll likely see some errors like explained in this comment: #13550 (comment)

Wow, you were using DDEV v1.21.4 :) Released Dec 15, 2022. Impressive that you got by so long. But the key problem here was that the upstream Debian package key expired, so apt update couldn't work any more.

Did you find a workaround? I'm still stucking trying to get ddev started. It crashed because it cannot find any valid containers for MariaDB.
The version I see is v1.21.5-alpha1

@leedave the "workaround" is to use current DDEV v1.22.7. It supports all versions of MariaDB from 5.5 through 10.11. I guess I don't understand your question. Are you asking how to upgrade? See https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/users/install/ddev-upgrade/

Are you asking what to do if you don't know why an upgrade doesn't seem to take effect? You likely have more than one version of DDEV installed, and you can figure out what's going on with which -a ddev. Delete the old one. See https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/latest/users/usage/faq/#why-do-i-have-an-old-ddev

I don't understand why you'd be using an alpha version from more than a year ago.

@rfay
Thank you, managed to fix it with your input. I was a bit confused, as I thought it was the .ddev folder not only setting the required container version but also the ddev version. A simple apt update / upgrade in my local WSL2 fixed the issue. Thanks for the fast reply ;)

As per my understanding of ddev, I believe this can be marked as DONE. This upgrade is for an individual local system, and there is no need for a pull request for the codebase.

As mentioned by @rfay on #13551 (comment), one can follow the instructions at https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/users/install/ddev-upgrade/ to upgrade ddev locally.
