When editing files with UTF-8 strings in non-English languages (pt-br in my case), characters with accents, diacritics or other marks do not show; they are replaced by whiteout blocks (see screenshot below). I suspect I am missing something related to configuration and/or my own environment.

The problem is with ozette, not your setup; it links against 'ncurses', because I didn't know about 'ncursesw' when I started working on the project, and I haven't taken the time to switch yet.
It will be interesting to test against this python script written in Czech, which is a language that abuses a lot of marks and diacritics (even way more than Portuguese).
Apart from this, ozette is an excellent idea; keep up the nice work!
