#X text 477 21 Gamma curve correction is essentially like audio dynmaics
compression for the eye. A video monitor has a much more limited range
of luminosity than the human eye can detect \, so adjusting the gamma
curve of the brightness modulations can "squeeze" those modulations
into a range more suitable for the monitor. In short \, the brightest
parts shouldn't saturate the screen and the darkest parts before black
should still be visible.;
