The LocalGov Alert Banner module includes a sub-module to help with integration to groups. This was build with LocalGov Microsites in mind: https://github.com/localgovdrupal/localgov_alert_banner/tree/1.x/modules/group_alert_banner

It would be good to include this in the default installation and confirm it works as expected and document usage.
