Which topic needs more explanation?
In Chapter 9, section titled "HTLC Fulfillment", the text states:

The new balance of Alice and Bob does not reflect yet that Alice has successfully sent 50,200 satoshis to Bob.

While it is true that Bob's balance hasn't updated yet, Alice's has, right? Her outbound liquidity has been reduced by the amount present in the HTLC output.
