adding an "@" symbol in text renders the gif un-saveable

If I try to add an @ symbol as new text for an existing gif, it will not save. When I try to File, I get the message at the bottom that says "Didn't work. Check your settings. If you think it's a bug, please open an issue." I have tried my text edit without the @ symbol and it saves/files just fine. It definitely seems to be the @ symbol that is causing an issue. Any ideas on how to fix or a workaround?
