Hey there πŸ‘‹

So I've seen more activity on this repository once I've added the hacktoberfest label, which is awesome and also didn't come out as I had expected.

βœ… The good

  • The repository gained more popularity, and more people start to use these wordlists, which is in my opinion awesome - as it was the goal of the project.
  • It will encourage people to participate more on GitHub, for both non-code and code related contributions.
  • People submitting quality wordlists or adding useful changes to existing wordlists that can help other people - many many thanks to you 🌟

❌ The bad

  • Some people made a PR just to fix a single typo. While it is friendly from their part, the usefulness of the PR can be debatable. Yes a typo is not really something that should have, but you can
    • Open an issue for that so that I am aware and will fix for the next bigger update.
    • Try to contribute to that and add for example new wordlists.
  • The creation of a new wordlist is amazing, but adding a new wordlist with four words doesn't make sense. It makes sense when there's only this few amount possible, e.g. a user agent list of Googlebot, but it doesn't make sense for a list of most common passwords or names.
  • People updating a wordlist, especially the Indian males name, with, for example, four new lines. Yes it's nice that you provide four new names, but maybe you could think about how to make a bigger contribution by adding like hundreds of lines or even more. You probably know yourself that there's no real use of these four new lines, if they were not there - wouldn't be the end of the world.
  • People submitting one wordlist, then the next hour a new one, then the next day a new one, etc. Submit them all at once.

πŸ›€ My decision

As of today, 16th of October 2023, all contributions mentioned above, e.g. one typo fixes or addition of a few amount of lines (it will depend on the type of wordlist) to a wordlist, will receive the spam and invalid labels or will simply be ignored and pushed at the start of December as that's the next time I'll have time to take care of my personal projects.

While not everyone knows it, this year there are no T-Shirts at all, so the spammy contributions are no longer needed :)

Thanks for your understanding
~ Krypton
