What went wrong?

I had a few layers with . in the layer name eg "Ms. Pac-Man". The export truncated the filename to "Ms.png"

If you can, tell us the steps to reproduce the problem.

Create a few layers with periods in the name; export

Try typing [layer name, %e] into the text field next to Save as: (if you don't see it, click on the Settings button -> Show More Settings). This should preserve the original layer name (instead of removing everything after the last .).
