I saw this post on the generative subreddit the other day and thought that the algorithm belongs here.

It has a Wikipedia page, though I don't understand most of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinodal_decomposition.

Interesting, thanks for sharing! I agree, this should be included - maybe under the "Math and physics topics" section.

From what I can tell, this is almost like a anti-reaction-diffusion. One substance has already diffused through another substance, and this algorithm basically models how they would separate out again if they experience some sort of phase transition (like being heated above a certain point).
