Annotation Graph Editor not available in latest snapshot #67
Comments
The same appears to be the case on Windows - the difference is that there's also an "In-Place Editor" available but it doesn't open with the following error message / stack trace. org.eclipse.ui.PartInitException: Unable to restore in-place editor. In-place support is missing. |
Dear Peteris, Many thanks for your report! It's true, the current snapshot version does not include the Annotation Graph Editor. This is because we are currently busy transforming Atomic and its components from the status of experimental prototype to production-ready application. In the course of this process we have removed the unstable components, and are in the process of refactoring/reimplementing them before we put them back in. The Annotation Graph Editor had some design flaws and performance issues, which we want to fix before re-integrating it. However, in the meantime I'll update the misleading docs (perhaps temporarily remove them) and also change the website to reflect the state of the art. Thanks again, also for your interest in the project, and stay tuned. |
Re-opening for tracking purposes, should only be closed once the AGE or its substitute is included again. |
Environment
from source, at the latest commit 636defa
Description
Annotation Graph Editor not available for any imported files.
After starting the system, I am able to import text data, they appear as filename.salt in the project view, double-clicking on them opens the default text view of a seemingly correct XML file, with the contents of the appropriate text file "
<labels xsi:type="saltCore:SFeature" namespace="saltCommon" name="SDATA" value="T:: ......."
Right clicking on the file and selecting "Open With" provides only the "Text Editor", "System Editor" and "Default Editor" options, not the "Annotation Graph Editor" as expected from the documentation.
(Trying to build from source as the latest 0.2.1 release version mac os distributions fail with "The Atomic executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library"; the 0.3.0-SNAPSHOT at least launches)
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
