toot fails to authenticate with mastodon.art #465

I tried to add a mastodon.art account to my toot, but it failed with

Client authentication failed due to unknown client, no client authentication included, or unsupported authentication method.

I did contact the admin and they send me to file an issue here, and they also said I should mention that they have authorised_fetch enabled.

Anything I can do to help debugging the issue?
