I am considering whether it might be useful to allow tasks to expire at a specific date if not yet completed. Please chime in if you have any interest because if I'm the only one that wants this is will be a low priority =)
In my particular use case, I might create a task reminding myself to buy an item that is part of a weekly sale at a local store. I may never actually buy the item, but if it's not in Wunderlist I will forget about it. So, I would create a task like
Veri Veri Teriyaki $3 #GiantEagle due today exp wed
The "due today" would ensure that it shows up in my Today view but next Thursday it would be removed automatically rather than requiring me to remove the task (the main reason I don't use Wunderlist for this yet).
Since Wunderlist does not support expiration of tasks, this would probably be implemented with a tag. The resulting task in Wunderlist would look like
Veri Veri Teriyaki $3 #GiantEagle #expires June 10
Side note: if I didn't already have 3 bottles of Veri Veri Teriyaki I would be at Giant Eagle right now.
Considerations
Can the workflow run a scheduled task to delete expired tasks, or would this only work if I executed the workflow on Thursday?
Should the task be deleted outright, or would anyone's use case require the task to be moved to a different list, or the due date removed?
This is one of many exciting ways that the workflow can extend the capabilities of Wunderlist beyond the basic feature set. Stay tuned for more and please share any great ideas you may have!
