Backup to NFS target fails with I/O error #5001
Comments
Hm, is there additional info in the host logs? Could it be a size issue maybe? |
It does appear to be size issue, but it's not clear as to what the cause is. The OMV box with the NFS export has ample diskspace available and doesn't impose any limits (that I know off). |
Can you check the host logs when taking a backup? Maybe also check the logs on OMV side for the same time frame. I wonder if there is maybe a more detailed error what I/O error NFS is encountering. |
Sadly there is nothing in the host or OMV logs whenever an backup is running to the NFS target. A few days ago my backup was ~850MB and it failed as soon as it appears to have finished writing the file. |
I've just tested Backup on a NFS storage in my test setup, things generally do seem to work here. It must be some combination of things which cause this problems 😢 Did you try to store the same backup on a different NFS serer? I am a bit out of ideas honestly. Normally, I would expect some kind of error in the kernel logs on either side when a I/O error is reported to user space. @bdraco do you maybe have an idea what could be going on here? |
I have a feeling the connection to the NFS host may get interrupted for (split)second breaking the copy process. My OMV box is running offsite (connected via VPN) and none of the other services running over the VPN are experiencing issues like this. As a test I have setup a different NFS server on a Debian box (locally) and it is working fine on there. The backup gets written and the backup process ends without an error. |
There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates. |
Describe the issue you are experiencing
I configured my HASS to backup to my OMV instance. While the backup is being made I see the file being written to the target but the backup eventually fails and doesn't show up in the list.
ha core update --backup --version 2024.4.1
worked fine and shows up in the list (but this seems to be a "HA backup" without addons/folders)What type of installation are you running?
