Marked options are not passed if query string contains markdown=

My page uses query strings, in particular I have a ?markdown=something query string.

I also use:

Reveal.initialize({
   markdown: {
        smartypants: true
    }
});

But the string "something" (from the query string) is passed to Marked configuration instead of {smartypants: true}.
